Sunstone (Aventurine Feldspar)

Sunstone is basically a crystal that has been created in molten lava. It can be golden yellow to orange to reddish brown in color and can appear translucent or transparent. It can have a very metallic appearance to it because of the hematite or goethite crystals within. It can also contain copper or pyrite which can only add to the reflection of light. The Vikings used talismans made of Sunstone for navigation, and some say that this gemstone can bring one luck, increase strength and vitality. Sunstone is commonly found in India, South Norway, Russia, Canada and Oregon (where sunstone is the state gemstone).
